State of California – ALPR for Law Enforcement

State of California Standard Agreement 1-20-58-47
California Department of General Services

The Department of General Services (DGS) awarded a contract to PCS Mobile, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Route1, to provide the State of California’s officers a next-generation Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) solution. Route1’s ALPR system partner for this contract is Genetec AutoVuTM.

CHP tests ALPR solution

The contract was awarded following a four-day period of testing in which Route1 and Genetec worked with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) at their headquarters in West Sacramento. Daytime and nighttime tests successfully demonstrated the AutoVu system’s ability to capture license plate reads more than 97 per cent of the time, including at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

Enhanced safety, improved operations

New ALPR systems will enhance officer safety and significantly improve operations. With this contract, PCS Mobile will provide Automated License Plate Readers and associated products and services, as well as operator and technician training services, to the State of California and other participating States and local government agencies at contract pricing. The use of this contract is mandatory for the California Highway Patrol and available for use by other police and State services.

Powerful data analytics

Using Genetec’s Security Center, CHP and other agencies will be able to access critical data and analytics which can then be rapidly shared among officers as well as partner agencies. This data is not shared with any third-party agencies without explicit permission from CHP and in no situation is the data used or sold by Genetec or Route1 for marketing purposes.
