Brand Protection Guidelines for Third Parties
Introduction
Route1 Inc. (“Route1”) considers its brands among its most valuable corporate asset, so proper and consistent use of Route1 trademarks is vital to protect Route1’s brands.
These guidelines have been developed to help partners, customers and other third parties answer common questions about proper use of Route1 trademarks.

- The first use of a trademark in text must be followed by the common generic name for the product (i.e. software, appliance, hardware).

Trademark symbols
Route1 holds two types of trademarks:
- ™ for unregistered marks and marks with pending applications for registration;
- ® for marks registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office.
Refer to the end of this document for a list of Route1 trademarks.
A trademark symbol is required on all prominent uses of Route1 marks, such as on brochures and headlines. A trademark symbol is also required upon the first use of a Route1 mark in text or body copy, even if the mark has appeared with a trademark symbol in the same piece, such as in a headline or logo.
