Identity-Based Access for Federal Employees

The manner in which government agencies are providing their employees with access to their digital resources - data, files, applications and systems - is evolving. This IT evolution is resulting in new challenges and access scenarios that need to be addressed by federal agencies’ IT managers and security architects.

From an IT perspective, the challenge between usability and security is a precarious scale to balance. As employee access requirements change and government mandates for privacy and security are enforced, federal IT administrators are searching for solutions that are simple, secure and cost-effective, yet seamlessly integrate into existing IT infrastructures. The challenge is further complicated by federal agencies being hit with budget cuts, forcing IT administrators to do more or maintain existing access solutions with less financial flexibility.

Examples of access challenges that currently face federal agency IT and security architects are the deployment of solutions that satisfy IT requirements for mobility, teleworking and continuity of operations.
